NDIS

What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government initiative that provides funding and support to people with disabilities, helping them access services that promote independence, inclusion, and a better quality of life. Whether you need assistance with daily tasks, personal care, community participation, or accessing healthcare, the NDIS can help you achieve your goals and live life on your terms.

(Heres a short video explaining!)

How to join the NDIS as a participant

If you are interested in joining the NDIS, the process is simple and straightforward. Here’s how you can get started:

  • Check Eligibility
To be eligible for the NDIS, you must meet a few criteria, including being under 65 years of age, being an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and having a permanent disability that impacts your ability to perform everyday activities. You can check the eligibility requirements on the NDIS website or by contacting NDIS directly.

  • Prepare for Your Access Request
To begin the process, you’ll need to complete an Access Request Form, which asks for information about your disability, daily living needs, and how it impacts your life. You can get help from a support worker, your GP, or a family member to fill out the form.

  • Submit Your Access Request
Once your form is complete, submit it to the NDIS. They will review your request and determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements. If you’re approved, you will become an official NDIS participant.

  • Create Your NDIS Plan
After approval, you’ll meet with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to create your NDIS plan. This plan outlines your goals, the support and services you need, and the funding you’ll receive. It is designed to be flexible and tailored to your individual needs.

  • Start Receiving Support
Once your plan is in place, you can begin accessing services from NDIS-registered providers (like us!). You can choose the providers that best meet your needs and begin receiving the support that will help you reach your goals.
